|Haley Joel Osment|
PopGoesTheNews.com Thirteen years after he saw dead people in The Sixth Sense, Haley Joel Osment is hard at work on a sci-fi drama in Southern Ontario.
Osment, 24, is one of the stars of I'll Follow You Down, currently in its second week of production in Hamilton, Ont. Filming is taking place this weekend on a tree-lined street of beautiful brick homes in a residential area of Hamilton.
Also in the flick are British actor Rufus Sewell (The Tourist), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) and London, Ont. native Victor Garber (Alias). Written and directed by Canada's Richie Mehta, I'll Follow You Down is about a scientist (Sewell) who vanishes, leaving his wife (Anderson) and son (Osment) behind. Years later, Osment's character and his grandfather (Garber) make a shocking discovery about the disappearance.
Osment shot to fame with The Sixth Sense, for which he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Starring roles in A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Pay It Forward followed but the hits stopped coming. In the summer of 2006 he was seriously injured when he crashed his car while driving drunk (Osment pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI and drug possession). His younger sister Emily Osment is an actress and singer who's made several appearances in Toronto.
I'll Follow You Down wraps up in mid-June.
